We are a newly forming community seeking to follow God’s call in doing “church” as we see it in the New Testament, not as it is practiced in most traditions.

We have three main values:

People First

Function First

Safety First

People First

Of course God is first, but by this we mean that our focus is to help each other grow in being like Jesus.

Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to follow all that I commanded you;

Matthew 28:19-20

He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.

Colossians 1:28

But if we walk in the light, as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

1 John 1:9

Function First

Everything we do is centered around lovingly helping each other become more like Jesus. This means for instance no traditional-style services or listening to weekly sermons.

and let’s consider how to stimulate one another in love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, as some people are doing, but encouraging one another; Hebrews 10:24-25

Safety First

The mission of Jesus is to “seek and save the lost”. (Luke 19:10). But when we put a bunch of hurt people together, they hurt each other. While we can’t keep ourselves from hurting others all the time, we place top priority on learning and practicing safe communication.

Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Ephesians 4:15-16

Other stuff

  • Non-exclusive membership. Our goal is to build servants, not an organization. Members are free and even encouraged to be part of other churches as they desire.
  • No clergy. Leaders coach, teach, mentor etc., but as functional roles not a separate status.
  • Bible based, not creedal. While we adhere to orthodox Christian teaching, and view historic creeds, catechisms, and statements of faith as useful in summarizing core Bible teaching, our goal is for everyone to understand the Bible itself.
  • Everyone has gifts. Our main job as Jesus followers is not to passively attend but to actively follow God’s call in every part of life.
  • Doubts and questions welcome. We encourage individuals to express faith questions and struggles without fear of judgement or pressure to believe.
